PNN – The director of one of the hospitals in the north of the Gaza Strip announced that the condition of children in this area is catastrophic and many of them have died due to hunger in the past days and people cannot find not only food but also drinking water.
According to the International group of Pakistan News Network, while the whole of Gaza and especially the north of this area is under a severe siege and since the beginning of the war in the past four months, the occupiers have not allowed any aid to the refugees in the north of Gaza, Dr. Hossam Abu Sofia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip, reported that during the past days, a large number of children in the north of the Gaza Strip died due to malnutrition, lack of food, and diseases and epidemics caused by the enemy’s continuous aggression and siege against this area.
Children dying of hunger in northern Gaza
Dr. Abu Sosafia further stated that, during the recent period, we had many cases of children visiting Kamal Adwan Hospital suffering from severe dehydration and malnutrition, as well as the spread of infection in the digestive system and intestines. We have had to merge the intensive care unit and the neonatal unit as a result of the power outage. Babies arrive at the hospital in very critical conditions and are very weak and pale due to the malnutrition of their mothers.
Pointing out that the severe lack of powdered milk in northern Gaza makes the situation worse for babies, he said, the situation of children, especially babies, is catastrophic, and if immediate aid is not provided to this hospital, more children will be at risk of death.
According to the United Nations, one out of every 10 children under the age of five in the Gaza Strip suffers from acute malnutrition and is at risk of death. Even some people in Gaza have turned to eating fodder and hunger has spread throughout this region. Also, clean and potable water is not found at all, and people find only one and a half or two liters of non-potable water per day to meet their daily needs.

The sad story of missing babies in Rafah
On the other hand, the information received from the Emirati hospital in Rafah shows that a number of babies have lost their families and have no name or address. Because communication with their families has been cut off and no one is taking care of them except the medical staff.
“Zia Akashe”, one of the doctors of this hospital, announced that the condition of these babies is very bad and they should leave the hospital as soon as possible. Because all kinds of diseases and contaminations have spread in this hospital. 4 babies are here in very sad condition and suffering from lack of oxygen. 3 of them were transferred from Kamal Adwan Hospital and another from Al-Shifa Hospital to Rafah, but we have no information about their families.
Dr. Akashe said that the calls are continuing to find the families of these babies, but due to the terrible conditions of the war, this is not possible.
Ismail al-Thwabateh, director general of the state media office in the Gaza Strip, announced that the humanitarian situation in the north of the Gaza Strip has passed a catastrophic stage, and some families get only half of a meal in 48 hours. Residents of the northern Gaza Strip cannot even find fodder and grain, and the occupying regime prevents aid trucks from reaching northern Gaza.
The World Food Program also announced: The last time the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) was able to distribute food to residents of northern Gaza was on January 23.
The World Food Program warned: In the shadow of the war that Israel has waged against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the Palestinians in this region are at risk of famine, and this threat is increasing day by day. The Gaza Strip is facing several crises, the most important of which is the lack of food and health care, as well as the increasing risk of starvation. The risk of famine in Gaza is increasing day by day, especially for the estimated 300,000 people in the northern Gaza Strip who are largely deprived of aid. The limited aid that reaches northern Gaza is not enough to prevent famine, and the region is in urgent need of rapid and sustained access to humanitarian aid.
