The strategic importance of the Zionist withdrawal from the Netzarim axis.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, military and strategic analyst Fayer Al-Duwayri examined the Israeli army’s withdrawal from the Netzarim axis, which it was forced to do based on the text of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza war, and considered it a strategic development in the course of the war, saying that this incident caused Tel Aviv’s strategy of dividing the Gaza Strip and occupying its northern areas to fail.
In analyzing the developments in the military arena in Gaza, Al-Duwayri added that the occupiers were seeking to strengthen their permanent presence in the region, but as a result of the pressure of the conflicts and coercion based on political agreements, they were forced to make this withdrawal.
He added that the occupiers had previously expanded the Netzarim axis to 80 kilometers wide and its depth was between 5 and 7 kilometers, and they had placed 4 main points and 4 support points in these areas.
Al-Duwairi added that although the Israeli army had established infrastructure to strengthen its permanent presence in the area, most of this infrastructure was mobile and removable, which shows that they had envisaged the possibility of withdrawing from this axis from the very beginning.
The international affairs expert added that the recent agreement forced the occupiers to leave this axis; just as they cannot be present in the Philadelphia axis or its neutral zone and must withdraw from it as well.
He considered the Israeli plan to be based on occupying the northern areas of Gaza in the early stages, and stated that the resistance imposed a different reality on the Zionists and forced them to reconsider their calculations.
Al-Duwairi said that the occupiers may have sought to stall or delay the implementation of the withdrawal, but they were ultimately forced to leave this axis on the 22nd day of the ceasefire.
Regarding the possible consequences of this withdrawal, he emphasized that this event would facilitate the movement of Gaza citizens and eliminate the obstacles existing as a result of the Zionist occupation.
Al-Duwayri considered the most important impact of this event to be the return of Palestinian territorial integrity to this axis, even if relatively and emphasized that the current situation is completely different from the calculations that the occupiers sought to impose on the Palestinian people.
This military expert adds that the withdrawal from the Netzarim axis is not only a military action but also has political and strategic dimensions and indicates the failure of the Zionist vision regarding Gaza and proves that the will to resist and simultaneous negotiations with the enemy can create new equations on the field.
The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip began on January 19 and consists of three phases, each of which will last 42 days. Negotiations were supposed to begin halfway through the first phase to begin the second and third phases with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the United States, but this has not happened so far.
