The Trump campaign’s attempt to attribute the hacking of its internal documents to Iran’
The campaign headquarters of Donald Trump, the Republican candidate in the 2024 US elections, announced in a statement that some of the headquarters’ internal communications were hacked.
CNN Arabic reported on Saturday, quoting Politico newspaper, that it received many e-mails containing documents from the Trump campaign from an unknown user account in its mailbox.
On the other hand, Stephen Chong, the spokesman for Trump’s election campaign, announced in a statement published on CNN that these documents were illegally obtained from foreign sources hostile to the United States to interfere in the 2024 election and create chaos. It has been achieved during our democratic campaign across the country.
The spokesperson of the election headquarters, referring to the recent report of Microsoft, claimed that Iranian agents have spread fake news media to tamper with the results of the US presidential election to overshadow the voters and infiltrate the presidential election campaign.
Chong claimed: “On Friday, a new report from Microsoft revealed that Iranian hackers hacked the account of a high-ranking official in the June 2024 US presidential election campaign, which coincides with the appointment of Trump’s running mate.”
According to CNN Arabic, there is still no evidence to prove definitively that Iran is behind this cyber infiltration. Microsoft’s report does not reference the role of Iranian influence in cyber operations.
On the other hand, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran said about the report of the Politico website about the hacking of Donald Trump’s election campaign and access to documents: “We do not give credit to this news. Iran’s government has no purpose or motivation to interfere in the US presidential election.
