The US added 37 Chinese entities to its trade blacklist

PNN – The US government has added 37 Chinese entities to its business blacklist, claiming they pose security threats. 11 of these institutions have been accused of being related to the spy balloon that was destroyed over the American sky last year.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Kyudo news agency, the companies and research institutions of this list will face restrictions in doing business with American companies. Before receiving goods or technology from American companies, they must obtain approval from the Department of Commerce.

According to this report, 22 of the 37 entities on this list have faced these restrictions for allegedly communicating with the Chinese government to improve quantum technology and trying to obtain goods from the United States in order to strengthen China’s quantum capabilities.

It is claimed that some of the sanctioned companies and institutions were connected with the progress of China’s nuclear programs or were involved in the export of goods to Russia after the start of the country’s war with Ukraine.

The United States must be vigilant in preventing such entities from accessing US technology that could be used against US national security, Alan Steves, Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Affairs, said in a statement.

It should be noted that in February of last year, a giant balloon suspected of espionage was seen over the sky of the United States. The incident has become a new turning point in US-China relations and led to the sudden postponement of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s planned visit to Beijing.

Months after this incident, tensions between the two countries gradually decreased. US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, met near San Francisco in November last year and reached agreements on managing the differences between the two countries.

Nevertheless, the Biden administration still considers China the most important geopolitical threat to the United States, and tensions between Washington and Beijing over a series of issues are increasing.
