PNN – The US House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to ban the use of the popular Chinese social media called Tik Tok in this country citing national security concerns.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network from “Euronews”, The bill, titled “Protecting Americans from Applications Controlled by Foreign Adversaries,” was first introduced on March 5 and passed by a vote of 352 to 65.
Meanwhile, 15 Republicans and 50 Democrats voted against this bill.
The bill would require Chinese tech company ByteDance to sell Tik Tok to an American company within the next six months. If not, the app will likely be banned across the US.

The bill is now moving to the Senate and it is not clear if it will be passed in the Senate as it seems that US senators have different opinions about this media.
TikTok, which has more than 150 million US users, has faced growing calls from US lawmakers and state officials for a nationwide ban on the medium over concerns of possible Chinese government influence.
This video software is very popular among American teenagers. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 67% of American teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 use TikTok, and 16% of all teens say they use this application almost constantly. TikTok has announced that most of its users are over 18 years old.
