PNN – The Supreme Court of the United States of America on Friday local time approved the law banning “TikTok” in the United States, which is scheduled to take effect on Sunday.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, CNN announced: The US Supreme Court ruled on Friday that a controversial ban on TikTok could go into effect this weekend, rejecting an appeal by the popular app that claimed the ban violated the First Amendment.
The law banning Tik Tok requires Bytedance to hand over the platform to an American company by Sunday, a day before the inauguration of Donald Trump, the new US president. Otherwise, its activity, which is used by 170 million Americans, will be banned.

The White House also said on Friday that TikTok should remain available to Americans, but the timing of the Supreme Court’s ruling banning the social media platform means that the app’s fate must rest in the hands of the Trump administration.
In a statement, the White House said: TikTok should remain available to Americans, but solely under American ownership that addresses the national security concerns that Congress identified in drafting this law.
The White House continued: Given the timing, this administration recognizes that measures to implement the law simply must be left to the next administration, which takes office on Monday.
Officials of the US Department of Justice also claimed that Tik Tok and Byte Dance employees have been involved in an activity that can promote videos that have a certain number of visitors; an issue that according to American officials can become a tool in the hands of this company to create division.
The report is part of a larger lawsuit between the U.S. government and TikTok over a bill Biden signed last April that would ban millions of Americans from using TikTok. By signing this law, Tik Tok must either sell it to an American operator based in this country or be banned from operating. Tik Tok considers this bill illegal.
