The victory of the opposition party in the Turkish municipal elections.

Turkish local and municipal elections were held on Sunday, November 12.

This election, which was held with the participation of more than 77% of the 61 million eligible voters, ended with the victory of the People’s Republic Party in the important cities of the country, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Hatay, Bursa, Antalya and Adana.

By winning more than 37% of the votes in the municipalities, the People’s Republic Party was ahead of the ruling party which won 36% of the votes and became the first party in Turkey for the first time after about 50 years.

Accepting this defeat, ErdoÄŸan also said: We got the message of the nation from the ballot boxes. We evaluate the election results and boldly pursue self-criticism.

Stating that there are 4 years left until 2028, which is the next round of presidential elections, he said: “During this period, we are trying to make up for our mistakes.”

Also, the Prosperity Party led by Fatih Erbakan managed to win 6% of the votes and became the third party in this election.
