PNN – The 79th General Assembly of the United Nations opened with the comments of Latin American leaders about the war in the Middle East, and the leaders of Colombia, Brazil and Chile warned against the world’s indifference to the crimes of the Zionist regime in this region.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, who was the first speaker of the General Assembly due to the tradition of the United Nations, dedicated his first speech behind the podium of the United Nations to Palestine and greeted the Palestinian delegation for its first appearance in the General Assembly and was applauded.
Da Silva then strongly criticized the “revenge” of the Zionist regime, which has caused the death of more than 41,000 people, and said: In Gaza and the West Bank, we are witnessing one of the biggest humanitarian crises in recent history, which has now dangerously extended to Lebanon.
The President of Brazil further said: Israel’s right to defend itself has become the right to revenge. This is the collective punishment of the entire Palestinian people.
At the same time, he criticized the reaction of the Israeli regime to the October attacks of last year, and blamed the escalation and spread of conflicts to Lebanon and against Hezbollah.
In his speech, the president of Chile, Gabriel Burich, questioned the occupation of the Palestinian land by the Zionist regime and defended the existence of the independent state of Palestine according to the borders established in 1967.
He said: We are asking Chile for a ceasefire in Gaza to end the suffering and killing of the Palestinian people, which has left more than 40,000 dead so far.
At the beginning of his speech, the President of Chile pointed out the developments that have occurred in the world since 1945 and noted: We continue to defend democracy, peace, multilateralism and full respect for human rights.
Also, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Colombian President Gustavo Petro described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “criminal”.
Petro also referred to Netanyahu as a representative of a “global minority” who allow and approve the bombing of the Palestinian people.
The President of Colombia warned, with the destruction of Gaza, all humanity will be in danger.
Petro also condemned governments that support Israel’s “genocide”.
He said: One year ago, I wanted the peace conference for Palestine to be held in this place before the first bomb exploded. Today, we have 20,000 children who have been killed under the bombs, and the heads of countries that destroy humanity are laughing in these corridors.
The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly officially started in New York on Tuesday afternoon and is being held with the presence of world leaders.
The Zionist army also started large-scale attacks on various areas of southern Lebanon since last Monday morning, and it continues until this moment.
