The Washington Post: The United States presents the final agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza

PNN – The American newspaper Washington Post wrote in a report: The United States will present the final ceasefire agreement in Gaza in the coming weeks, and if the two main parties cannot accept it, it can end the negotiations led by the United States.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Washington Post quoted a senior American government official who asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the issue, and added: “The United States has negotiated this agreement with Egypt and Qatar.”

This newspaper added, quoting American officials, that the efforts of the Joe Biden administration for several months to implement a cease-fire in Gaza and the release of prisoners took on a new urgency on Sunday after the Israeli regime found the bodies of six of its prisoners, including an American.

However, Biden administration officials said it was unclear whether the discovery of the bodies would bolster the possibility of an agreement between the Israeli regime and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the coming weeks.

This American media, quoting the above-mentioned senior American government official, wrote: Negotiations cannot proceed in this way. The US, Egypt and Qatar had negotiated a final ceasefire proposal before the bodies of the prisoners were found.

According to this report, the officials and senior advisers of the Biden government have been trying for months to make it possible to exchange prisoners by reaching an agreement between the two sides.

William Burns, the head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Anthony Blinken, the Secretary of State, and Brett McGregor, the coordinator of the US National Security Council for the Middle East, were among the people who traveled to the region many times and worked with Qatari and Egyptian negotiators to find an agreement.

American website: Biden discusses the final agreement in a meeting with the national security team

Axios website also wrote, quoting sources familiar with the decisions of the Biden administration: On Monday morning, the President of the United States will discuss with the officials of his national security team about a strategy for the final efforts in the field of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Axios, quoting informed sources, added: The killing of Israeli prisoners in Gaza has created a sense of urgency among Biden’s top advisers to try to reach a deal as quickly as possible, and they will present a deal and ask both sides to either “take it or leave it.”

Two people with direct knowledge of the meeting told Axios: White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told the families of American prisoners held in Gaza on Sunday that Biden is considering a final proposal for prisoner releases and a ceasefire this week.

According to the plans of the White House, Biden’s deputy Kamala Harris will also join Biden in today’s meeting.

Khalil al-Hiya, the head of the Hamas negotiations, emphasized on Sunday night: There will be no agreement without Israel’s withdrawal from the Salah al-Din crossing (Philadelphia), Netsarim and the Rafah crossing.

Al-Hiya told Al-Jazeera: Netanyahu’s government is seeking to set the entire region on fire.

He added: Netanyahu said that Saladin’s axis (Philadelphia) is more important than prisoners and he sacrifices Israeli prisoners because he does not care about them.
