The Washington Post’s account of the wave of layoffs in the Pentagon; “American security is at risk”

PNN – The Washington Post, in an article referring to the latest action of “Donald Trump” regarding the dismissal of the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Army and the removal of another group of high-ranking military officers, considered these actions to be a threat to the security of the United States.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from this popular American newspaper, Trump’s removal of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown Jr., is likely just the beginning, and the US president’s bid for power puts the US military and national security at risk.

According to the latest reports, Trump fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff appointed by the Joe Biden administration, as well as Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti and a number of other senior officers. He is said to be still considering firing other officers who he says lack “the necessary leadership qualities.”

The Washington Post then added: Undoubtedly, the consequences of this action for American national security cannot be underestimated, and this has a clear message for military leaders; a lack of personal or political loyalty to Trump could result in punishment, even after decades of honorable service.

Trump previously fired Coast Guard Rear Adm. Linda Fegan for political reasons. He also took such steps by canceling security protection for General Mark Milley, the head of the US Army Joint Staff in his first administration, and Mark Esper, the defense minister of his previous administration. During his election campaign, these two top officials of Trump made harsh criticisms against him and especially Mark Milley compared Trump with Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany.

From the author’s point of view, these dismissals will undoubtedly create turmoil in the various ranks of the army; in this way, the army chiefs will not resist the illegal orders for fear of being fired, and eventually this situation leads to the poisoning of military morals.

Martin Dempsey and Peter Fiore, two retired generals of the United States Army, recently wrote in this regard: “Preventive firing of generals politicizes the military and reduces its openness, readiness, skill and lethality.”

The Washington Post added: In the meantime, Trump’s advisers defended the wave of dismissals and attributed it to the actions of General George C. Marshall in 1940 that dismissed senior military officers. At that time, Marshall’s actions led to the dismissal of a number of generals. But the Trump administration should know that this action in the 1940s was not done out of personal revenge, but was designed to create an opportunity for the rapid promotion of promising young officers before the United States entered World War II.

While Trump is now endangering the security of the United States by ignoring the existing laws and injecting non-competent politics and principles into the military promotion system.

At the end, the author notes that Trump has the right to have a civilian staff that is politically loyal to him. But for the safety of all Americans, military officers and his military must be free to make military recommendations without fear of retaliation.
