Three signs of an impending war between the US and Venezuela, according to Newsweek.

Newsweek wrote: The deployment of ships off the coast of Venezuela on the orders of US President Trump and the continued pressure of his government on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his claim of illegitimacy have intensified speculation about US military action in the South American country in the very near future.

This US strategy is part of the new effort of the country’s government to dominate and dominate the Western Hemisphere. According to the new US National Security Strategy document, the United States says it is seeking to emphasize the re-implementation of the Monroe Doctrine in order to restore the country’s superiority in the Western Hemisphere.

The doctrine of former US President James Monroe in 1823 declared the American continent a sphere of influence, opposing European powers and paving the way for interventions throughout Latin America.

Newsweek listed three signs of a stalemate in relations between Washington and Caracas that could lead to war:

Tensions rising

The U.S. plans to intercept Venezuelan oil ships after the seizure of a Venezuelan tanker has increased pressure on Maduro, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

The pressure comes after the tense seizure of a sanctioned oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, which has sent shipowners, operators and maritime organizations involved in transporting Venezuelan crude oil on very serious grounds. Maduro has described Washington’s actions as “international piracy.”

In addition to shifting its focus from sanctions to tanker seizures, the Trump administration has strongly defended its military campaign against suspected drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean, even amid criticism for killing civilians. More than 80 people have been killed in more than 20 attacks.

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem recently testified that the seizure of the Venezuelan tanker was linked to the Trump administration’s anti-drug campaign in Latin America, claiming it was a “successful operation” to ensure “roll back a regime that has systematically saturated our country with deadly narcotics.”
