Troubled foreign policy of Tunisia; from the justification of the abstention vote to the support of “Qais Saeed” for Palestine

PNN – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia tried to justify the country’s abstention vote on the UN resolution on Palestine, when the Tunisian president emphasized his support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to Pakistan News Network’s Saturday report, quoting from Sputnik, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia explained about the country’s abstention last night to the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, which called for an immediate, permanent and stable ceasefire in order to provide a platform for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.

“Tareq El Adeb”, the Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations, announced: Tunisia’s abstention vote was done in the direction that the dangerous and unprecedented situation in Gaza and other areas of the Palestinian nation as a result of the continued brutal Israeli attacks on the Palestinian nation and the severe restrictions that have paralyzed the lives of millions of Palestinians, demand a higher ceiling.

On the other hand, Tunisian President Qais Saeed reiterated his support for the Palestinian nation to achieve its right in the entire occupied territories and to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

He added: Liberation from the yoke of occupation is terrorism in the eyes of many, but the destruction of homes and hospitals, the martyrdom of children and women, and the displacement of the Palestinian nation are considered self-defense (by the Zionists).

On Friday evening, during the extraordinary and emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly to review the war situation in occupied Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip, the resolution proposed by the Arabs to establish an immediate “permanent and stable humanitarian ceasefire” in this strip was approved.

In the meantime, the abstention vote of two Muslim and Arab countries, Iraq and Tunisia, surprised the media and public opinion. This is despite the fact that among the Islamic countries, even the countries that had relations with the Israeli regime voted in favor of this resolution.
