Reuters, citing sources in the Pakistan Army, wrote that Field Marshal Munir is likely to visit Washington in the coming weeks to meet with US President Donald Trump. This would be his third meeting in the past six months, with the focus likely to be on the deployment of troops to Gaza.
The English-language media outlet added that Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza includes deploying forces from Muslim countries to oversee the transition period and the reconstruction of the region’s economy. Many countries are cautious about this mission, which aims to disarm resistance groups, as it could draw them into conflict and provoke anger among pro-Palestinian supporters at home.
Reuters wrote that refusing to deploy troops could anger Trump, and Pakistan is under pressure on this issue due to its desire to receive investment and security assistance from Washington. At the same time, the presence of Pakistani forces in Gaza could ignite protests by domestic Islamist parties.
The Western media outlet wrote that Pakistan’s involvement in this mission would confront Field Marshal Munir with serious challenges at home, and public opinion may view Munir as being in the service of Israel.
