Trump administration border official: Deporting immigrants should be celebrated

PNN – The border official of US President Donald Trump’s administration defended the deportation of immigrants following the implementation of the administration’s anti-immigration policy, saying: This action should be celebrated.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, White House border official Tom Homan on Monday defended the U.S. government’s deportation of hundreds of mostly Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador, despite a federal judge’s order to cancel the deportation flights.

Homan told reporters outside the White House: The aircraft carrying terrorists and threats to public safety was over international waters when the order was issued. The President did exactly the right thing.

He claimed: We expelled the terrorists. This action should be celebrated in this country.

When CNN asked Homan to explain the timing of the judge’s ruling, he said: The president used his authority under the Aliens Act to impose it. He has the right to do that.

This comes as a US federal judge has overturned an immigration deportation order announced by US President Donald Trump to combat a Venezuelan criminal group.

Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 against a Venezuelan group, saying the United States was facing an invasion by a criminal organization linked to kidnapping, extortion, and organized crime and contract killings.

Federal Judge James Boasberg issued an order suspending the law for 14 days. Boasberg said the measure did not provide a basis for the president’s declaration, given that the terms “predatory aggression” actually refer to hostile acts committed by any country and amount to war.

Citing the law, Trump said members of the gang were waging “irregular warfare and hostile acts against the United States” with the aim of destabilizing the country.

The law, which is only used in times of war, allows the president to bypass the due process rights of immigrants classified as a threat and quickly deport them.
