Trump Administration Faces Criticism Over Sharing Sensitive Military Info on Insecure Messaging Platforms.
According to the Atlantic magazine website, Jeffrey Goldberg, the magazine’s editor, wrote that he was accidentally added to a group on the Signal messenger in which some senior American officials were exchanging information about military operations against Ansar Allah in Yemen.
In an article titled “How I Accidentally Got Access to Secret American War Conversations,” he revealed that the group included high-ranking figures, including the vice president, the secretary of defense, and the White House national security adviser, who were discussing the details of the attack.
According to him, he learned about the operation a few hours before the start of the US military attack on Yemen and accessed the content of messages that showed that Washington intended to target some Ansar Allah commanders.
This revelation has increased concerns about the level of security of American officials’ correspondence and their use of insecure messengers for military planning.
