Trump and Netanyahu’s meeting: From Bibi’s decorum to Trump’s dictations.

Trump and Netanyahu’s meeting: From Bibi’s decorum to Trump’s dictations.

“Netanyahu’s defeat in Trump’s impasse” is the best phrase to describe the achievements of the Israeli Prime Minister’s trip to Washington! While Netanyahu had been traveling to Hungary, bypassing the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant, to make a show of “power” to the leaders of the European Union, the American media suddenly reported his unexpected trip to the United States. During this trip, the issues of Iran, Gaza, the future of regional order, preventing the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey and curbing its influence in Syria, and finally the tariffs imposed on Israeli goods were discussed.

The key point is that during the Netanyahu-Trump bilateral meeting, this time there was no news of the Republican President of the United States accompanying him, and Trump tried to impose his demands on Netanyahu in the form of a “dictation.” From the lack of commitment to implementing the Libyan agreement model in the Iranian nuclear case to the implicit confirmation of maintaining Tehran’s peaceful nuclear activities alongside the US President’s “no” regarding the tariffs imposed on Israel, these can be seen as signs of the failure of the legendary leader of the Likud party in the White House to change the game in Israel’s favor!

With the arrival of spring, the Iran-US conflict has entered a new phase. The recent statements by Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, regarding Iran’s potential to build 6 or 7 nuclear weapons can be seen as this international organization’s play on Washington’s playground and the possibility of issuing a biased quarterly report against Iran. This report could be a pawn for the European troika to activate the trigger mechanism by October 2025 and Iran’s return under Article 7 of the UN Charter. At the same time, in the West Asian arena, while Israel focuses on the Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria cases, CENTCOM has come to the aid of the regime in repelling the threats of resistance from Yemen, Iraq, and, ultimately, Iran. In the meantime, the most important symbol of the conflict between Iran and the US-Zionist regime can be considered the Iranian nuclear issue. After signing the executive document of the return of the “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran, Donald Trump, using double-edged language, speaks of a desire to reach an agreement with Iran while at the same time threatening the Islamic Republic militarily. In this equation, Netanyahu and his right-wing allies hope to destroy Iran’s nuclear program once and for all through a joint military attack or a unilateral political agreement! Considering the above, in the rest of this note we will try to examine the issues discussed during Netanyahu’s second trip to Washington.
