Trump blocks funding for health programs.
The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, reported that the Trump administration has blocked funding for a range of health programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This includes programs to prevent youth violence, research to prevent gun injuries and deaths, and efforts to combat diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and tobacco use.
The Wall Street Journal, citing a source familiar with the matter, said the exact amount of funding blocked was not known but could be as much as $200 million.
This comes as the White House has previously said it plans to cut the US health budget by more than 25 percent next year, while the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention face billions of dollars in cuts.
