Trump calls Democrats’ Epstein claim a lie to mislead the public.
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday local time: Democrats want to bring up the false Jeffrey Epstein issue again, because they are willing to do anything to avoid responsibility and hide their very poor performance in the government shutdown and other issues.
Stating that only a very bad or stupid Republican would fall for their trap, Trump added: The Democrats have lost $1.5 trillion in damage with their recent malicious behavior in shutting down the country and at the same time put many lives at risk and they must pay the price for it.
The US President continued: There should be no distraction or attention to Epstein or any other issue, and the Republicans should focus only on reopening the government and repairing the enormous damage that the Democrats have done to the country!
A group of Democratic representatives on the US House Oversight Committee claimed in emails that US President Donald Trump knew “more than he previously admitted” about the sexual abuse of Jeffrey Epstein.
White House Spokesperson: Trump Did Nothing Wrong
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt also told reporters Wednesday local time about the documents released by Democrats to the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday: “These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.”
She said Trump knew Epstein from Palm Beach, but the president kicked the financier out of his Mar-a-Lago club “because Jeffrey Epstein was a child molester and a disgusting person.”
Leavitt was also asked about reports that the White House met with U.S. Rep. Lauren Bobert, R-Colorado, to discuss the Epstein cases, and she said it showed “the transparency that members of the Trump administration are willing to provide to members of Congress.”
The Trump administration spokesman added: “This administration has been more transparent about Jeffrey Epstein than any other administration in history… It just shows how this is a fabricated hoax by the Democratic Party because the president is sitting in the White House.”
Leavitt said: “This is another campaign of disinformation by the Democrats and the liberal media.”
Asked if Trump was considering pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, one of Epstein’s associates, he said: “That’s not something he’s talking about or even thinking about right now.”
Leavitt also said: “I haven’t spoken to him about that specific issue, but I can ask him and let you know.”
Epstein, who was convicted of child sex trafficking and other crimes during the first term of the Trump administration in 2019, died in New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center in August, with officials declaring the cause a suicide. Still, many immediately considered the circumstances of his death suspicious.
