Trump claims he convinced Macron to raise drug prices.

Donald Trump said: “I spoke to a very good man, Macron, the President of France, and I said: Emmanuel, you have to raise the price of the medicine. He said: ‘No, no, no, we will not do it.’ I said: You have to do it.”

Trump said that Macron continued to resist, but he insisted and said: Emmanuel, you will do it 100 percent. Please accept it now.

According to the state news agency, the impasse continued until Trump threatened Macron, saying: If you do not do this, I will impose a 25 percent tariff on all goods that France sells to the United States.

Trump claimed that Macron said “I understand” and backed down.

The US president has repeatedly called for increasing the price of medicines in Europe, arguing that this would help reduce the cost of medicines in the United States.

This summer, Washington reached a tariff deal with the European Union that will impose a 15 percent tariff on most European goods imported into the US market.

The Elysee Palace has yet to state Trump’s remarks.
