PNN – The US President congratulated his Argentine counterpart on his victory in the country’s midterm elections, even as Argentina faces economic hardships caused by the country’s president’s policies!

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing France 24, US President Donald Trump congratulated his Argentine counterpart Javier Milli on his victory in the country’s midterm elections.

Trump wrote on his social media account, Truth Social: Congratulations to President Javier Milla on his landslide victory in Argentina. He is doing a great job! The Argentine people have justified our trust in him.

The Freedom Front party led by Milli in Buenos Aires overtook the Peronist coalition with 41.5 percent of the vote and won 64 seats in the Chamber of Deputies at the national level. Previously, the party had only held 37 seats.

Trump attributes Milleys victory in Argentina’s election to US aid.

Milley said in his victory speech: The Argentine people have shown that they do not want to return to the failed model of the past. The mid-term elections for the Argentine Congress were held yesterday.

According to analysts, this result not only strengthens the government’s political position against the opposition, but also increases Milley’s ability to push through the fiscal austerity program.

The election was the first national test of Milley’s popularity since he took office in 2023, when he promised to slash government spending and trim the government using a (hypothetical) “chainsaw.” Milley even showed off a real chainsaw at one of his campaign rallies!

Argentina’s radical president won yesterday’s election at a time when the country is grappling with political and economic crises, and in addition, there have been accusations that his ally, Trump, is interfering in the country’s internal affairs.

Milley is considered one of Trump’s allies in Latin America, and Washington has promised to provide Argentina with a $40 billion support package to improve its economic situation.

Argentina’s presidential election is not due until 2027. However, Trump has previously said that if “a socialist wins,” the US view of supporting the Latin American country would be “very different.” Trump had threatened voters that “if he loses, [the US] will not treat Argentina very kindly!”
