Trump: Countries are begging me to spare them from tariffs!
According to Russia Today, US President Donald Trump, who has recently imposed tariffs on a number of countries, including its major trading partners, claimed that dozens of countries are begging him to avoid the overall consequences of these tariffs.
Trump claimed that his administration is “doing very well” in initial negotiations with countries affected by the 10% base tariff, while dozens of other countries are facing much harsher tariffs that will be implemented from today.
He claimed, “Believe me, these countries are contacting us and begging. They are not giving up on an agreement!”
The Trump administration had previously announced that about 70 countries were seeking negotiations to adjust the effects of the tariffs, while Trump is calling for country-specific agreements.
He had previously said during an executive order signing at the White House that “I call these agreements handmade, not market-made and ready-made”!
Trump’s claim comes as China, ignoring his threats to impose more tariffs on the country, retaliated by imposing 34 percent tariffs on goods imported from the United States. In the continuation of this trade war, the White House announced that “US tariffs on Chinese products will be applied at a rate of 104 percent starting today.”
