PNN – The US President announced that crime in the capital is higher than in Colombia and Mexico; therefore, in addition to deploying the National Guard to Washington, DC, its police department will also be placed under the control of the Federal Police.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, US President Donald Trump announced in a speech on Monday: I am announcing that the Washington, D.C. Police Department will be placed under federal control. We will take back our capital, just as we did at the southern border. The crime rate in our capital is now higher than in Colombia and Mexico, and today’s decision is to get rid of them.
The US President continued: I am sending the National Guard to the US capital. Putting security in Washington, D.C. under the control of the Federal Police will help control the crime rate. Now the police are allowed to do whatever they want.
He added: The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department will be placed under federal control, and the National Guard will be deployed there to fight crime. I will change all the laws related to fighting crime and expand the powers of the police to deal with criminals. Therefore, I hereby announce the placing of the Metropolitan Police Department under federal control and the deployment of the National Guard to fight crime. We will eradicate crime and the capital will soon be safe. We are facing a catastrophic emergency in the capital and there is a lack of security and safety. If necessary, we will deploy the army to control the situation in the capital. 800 National Guard troops will be on the streets of the capital and we will increase their number if necessary.

Trump stated: Crime in Washington is twice as high and even three times as high as in Baghdad, Panama, Mexico City, and Lima (the capital of Peru).
Donald Trump added in part of his speech: I’m getting ready to meet with Russian President Putin on Friday. I’m going to Russia on Friday to see Putin.
Continuing his gaffes, this American official corrected his previous remarks regarding Friday’s meeting with the Russian president as follows: Putin is coming to our country, not us going to his country.
The announcement of the Trump-Putin meeting in Russia comes after Russian and American officials had previously said that Putin and Trump would meet in Alaska on August 15.
The American official said: The meeting with Putin will be to gauge his position and I believe he wants to end the war. I will tell Putin that you have to end the war. If I were president, the war in Ukraine would not have started. There will be a land exchange between Russia and Ukraine, and the battle lines will change. I will not sign an agreement with Putin, but I will understand his point of view and convey it to the President of Ukraine.
Trump added: I want a ceasefire in Ukraine! After meeting with Putin, I will send the agreement to Zelensky and then to senior European officials. Zelensky has not been invited to meet with Putin on Friday. If an agreement is reached, trade relations with Russia will be established. If an agreement is reached to end the war, trade relations with Russia will be established. I believe that the issues between Russia and Ukraine will be resolved and the two presidents will eventually meet. I was disappointed by Zelensky’s response on the land swap. I believe we will have constructive talks with President Putin. According to polls in Ukraine, 88% of people want a peace agreement with Russia.
Following Trump’s remarks, Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett announced that National Guard troops will be deployed to the streets of the US capital in the coming weeks.
