Trump: Establishing a new party in America is stupid.
US President Donald Trump called Elon Musk’s move to establish a new political party “America” stupid and ridiculous, which will only add to the confusion.
He told reporters on Air Force One: “I think it’s a stupid thing to establish a new political party in America. It will only add to the confusion of the American people. Musk can have fun with it, but I think it’s a stupid thing to do.”
Trump added: “We’ve had great success with the Republican Party. The Democrats have lost their way, but there’s always been a two-party system in America, and I think the establishment of a third party will add to the confusion.”
The US president acknowledged that the American system seems to be formed with two parties and the third party has never worked.
Shortly after these remarks about Musk, Trump wrote in a post on the social network Truth: “I’m sad to see Musk completely off the track and become a train wreck over the past five weeks.” This will fuel chaos and disorder.
Elon Musk announced the formation of a new party called “America” yesterday, saying that Trump’s “Big and Beautiful” bill would bankrupt the country, taking the tense relationship between the Republican president and his biggest campaign donor to a new level.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” Musk said on Saturday, just one day after asking users on the social media platform X whether a new party should be formed in the United States.
“By a two-to-one vote, you are asking for a new political party, and it will be,” Musk added.
Musk’s announcement came just one day after US President Donald Trump signed into law the “Big and Beautiful” bill, a sweeping tax and spending cut bill that passed Congress on Friday. Mr. Musk strongly opposes the bill.
