Reuters previously reported, citing its sources, that adviser to Trump and Jinping discussed a possible meeting between the presidents of the two countries during Trump’s trip to Asia later this year.

If the trip goes ahead, it will be the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Jinping since his re-election, at a time when trade and security tensions between the two superpowers remain high.

According to sources, although planning for this possible meeting has not been finalized, discussions on both sides of the Pacific indicate a possible stopover by Trump in China around the time of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea or a meeting between the parties on the sidelines of this event.
