Trump: I would like to make a deal with Iran.

US President Donald Trump reiterated his desire to reach a new deal with Iran at a White House news conference.

He claimed: “I would very much like to make a deal with Iran, and I think Tehran would be willing to make a deal with us.”

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump, without mentioning the details or possible framework of such a deal, stated that there are signs and that “Iran is ready to negotiate under the current circumstances.”

The US president also stressed that his administration has left the “door to negotiations” open and that any agreement must benefit the US and guarantee regional security.

These statements come at a time when Iran has repeatedly stressed that it has never left the negotiating table and that it was the US that sided with Israel during the negotiations and attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Iran says that uranium enrichment is a central issue and will not negotiate on it under any circumstances.

At the end of his speech, Trump once again claimed: “I think we can make a great deal very quickly if Iran wants to.”
