PNN – In a recent interview with Fox News, Donald Trump, referring to yesterday’s talks in Islamabad, emphasized that the opposing sides, contrary to some perceptions, were highly capable and that negotiations with them were going “very difficult.”

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; The US President said in an interview with Fox News about the 25-hour talks between Iran and the United States in Pakistan that the Iranian negotiators in recent meetings were very smart, sharp and efficient.

In a new interview with Fox News, Donald Trump emphasized that the opposing sides were highly capable, contrary to some perceptions, referring to yesterday’s talks in Islamabad.

He said: The people we dealt with yesterday were actually very smart, sharp and efficient.

Without directly identifying the individuals or providing full details of the negotiations, Trump made the remarks as part of his overall assessment of the talks. The remarks come as the political and international climate surrounding the United States’ role in some sensitive cases remains fraught with uncertainty and speculation.

The US president went on to emphasize the importance of “getting to know the other side” in negotiations, saying that a proper assessment of the other side’s capabilities and approaches can be decisive in the outcome.

Trump’s statements come at a time when analysts see his remarks as a sign of an attempt to redefine the image of the negotiating parties and also to highlight their diplomatic skills; an issue that could also have repercussions in the domestic political competition in the United States.

In another part of his interview with Fox News, Trump, while emphasizing America’s military might, spoke of the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz and warned that if the negotiations fail, tougher options against Iran will be on the agenda.

As tensions between Tehran and Washington reached a critical point, Donald Trump demonstrated in a televised interview a dual approach of maximum pressure and conditional diplomacy; an approach that is more of a sign of compromise than of readiness for confrontational scenarios.

In the interview, he described the Iranian side as “smart, sharp and efficient,” but at the same time stated that negotiations with them were going “very hard.”

He referred to recent contacts and interactions with Krebs, who said, “We’ll have to see what happens,” a phrase that suggests uncertainty in the talks.

However, the most important part of the conversation was the re-examination of military options. Trump, citing the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz for global energy trade, announced that the United States could block the vital passage if necessary; although he added that implementing such a decision would require time and planning. These statements implicitly reveal the consideration of high-risk scenarios at the levels of American decision-making.
