PNN – An English newspaper, quoting European diplomats, asked NATO member countries to prepare for the possible withdrawal of the United States from this military alliance.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoted by Sputnik, Telegraph newspaper wrote in a report that in response to the recent statements of Donald Trump, the former US president, about NATO, as well as his threats during the first term of his presidency to withdraw from this military alliance, European diplomats have encouraged NATO member countries to prepare for the withdrawal of the US from this alliance.
It is said that Trump threatened to withdraw from NATO several times during his presidency and described the alliance as “obsolete” in private circles.
The Telegraph quoted several NATO member European diplomats, who did not want to be named, and wrote: European countries should prepare themselves for this scenario, that is, the withdrawal of America from NATO under the possible presidency of Trump.

One of these diplomats pointed to Trump’s recent statement that “if any of the NATO members do not fulfill their financial obligations, Russia can do whatever harm it wants to them”, and emphasized: “No one knows what Trump’s next move is.”
He also pointed to the increase in the number of countries that have met NATO’s target (spending 2% of GDP on defense), adding: They can tell Trump that he has achieved what he wanted, but it is still unpredictable.
Another diplomat emphasized: Trump’s statements highlighted the fact that we (NATO members) are too dependent on America. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss how to protect ourselves from the threat of possible US withdrawal. NATO members should take the lead in securing Europe because if America leaves, there will be a big gap. We should start planning now.
Trump, who will probably soon be announced as the main candidate of the Republican Party in the 2024 US presidential election, is considered the frontrunner to win the November election and succeed Joe Biden in many polls.
