Trump keeps attacking Comey after the judge’s statement.

Newsweek’s Kesh Patel revealed that the Trump administration is still pursuing James Comey’s case even after a federal judge dismissed his case.

Trump fired Comey in 2017, and the former director has been a major target of the president and his supporters ever since.

In a message posted on the Truth Social platform in September, Trump called on U.S. Attorney General Pam Bundy to “move quickly” to prosecute Comey and his other political enemies, calling them “extremely guilty,” and wrote: “Justice must be served now!!!”

Comey was subsequently charged with making false statements and obstructing Congress, charges that stem from his testimony before lawmakers about how the FBI handled politically sensitive investigations and oversight of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

Comey pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But after the Trump administration filed a case against Comey, U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Kerry discovered that Lindsay Halligan had been appointed acting U.S. attorney just two days before the case was filed, with no prior experience. McGowan Kerry ruled the appointment illegal and invalidated all of her actions, including signing the indictment against Comey.

But in an interview with Ian Yekilik, editor of the conservative American media outlet Epoch Times, on Saturday, Patel revealed that the Trump administration was still considering other options regarding the Comey case.

In an exclusive interview published on Platform X, Patel said, “The judicial process can make whatever decision it wants, but we at the FBI and the Department of Justice have multiple options to proceed with the process, and we are considering all of those options. So our work is not over.”

Bundy also said after the judge dismissed Comey’s case: “We will pursue all legal remedies available, including an immediate request to hold James Comey accountable for his illegal conduct. I am not concerned about someone who has been charged with a serious crime; his [Comey’s] alleged actions are a betrayal of the public trust.”

White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt also responded to a question about Trump’s “persecution” of Comey, saying: “I am not saying he is ‘persecuting’ anyone. I think the president is more determined than ever to hold the country accountable and to correct the mistakes made by the politicization of the justice system in the previous administration and the Joe Biden administration.”

In another part of his interview, published in X, Patel emphasized that he could not say much because of the appeals process, but said: “Wait until right after Thanksgiving, (…) you will get a lot of answers.”
