Trump nominated the radical American senator as his secretary of state

PNN – US President-elect Donald Trump, after meeting with the current Democratic President of the country, Joe Biden, announced hard-line Senator Marco Rubio as the Secretary of State of his future administration.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, US President-elect Donald Trump, who is scheduled to be sworn in on January 20, 2025, nominated Marco Rubio, a senator from the state of Florida, to take over the post of the US State Department.

“Marco is a much respected leader and a very powerful voice for freedom,” Trump said of Marco Rubio.

The president-elect of the United States added in a statement: “He (Marco Rubio) will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies, and a fearless warrior who will never back down from our enemies.”

Rubio, 53, who is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and also the senior member of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, is a foreign policy politician known for his aggressive approach to China.

Rubio will be the first Latino to serve as the US Secretary of State. He is famous for his stubborn approach in the field of foreign policy and he defends stubborn positions towards China, Cuba and Iran. He was one of the opponents of the nuclear agreement with Iran (JCPOA) and the lifting of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This radical American senator, by repeating Washington’s anti-Iranian claims, has claimed that Iran should never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons due to its “support for terrorism” and “human rights record”. Meanwhile, American intelligence agencies have also announced that Tehran is not moving towards building nuclear weapons.

Rubio, who was Trump’s opponent in the Republican primaries in the 2016 US presidential election, became one of the most loyal members of the US president’s election campaign in the 2024 presidential election.

This Florida Republican senator, who is going to replace Anthony Blinken, the current secretary of state of the Democratic administration of Biden, is one of the 15 Republican senators who opposed the allocation of the $95 billion military aid package to Ukraine.

According to political analysts, although Marco Rubio is not a supporter of the theory of isolationism in the field of American foreign policy, his election as the foreign minister of the new American government indicates a serious change in Washington’s approach to international challenges.

Trump previously named Mike Waltz, a Republican congressman from Florida, as the White House’s national security adviser in his new administration.

Trump also announced John Ratcliffe as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), real estate tycoon Steven Whitkoff as his special representative for the Middle East, and Mike Huckabee as the US ambassador to Israel.

Earlier, he nominated Elise Stefanik, 40 years old and a member of parliament from the state of New York, for the position of ambassador and permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations.

Trump inflicted a heavy defeat on the Democrats by winning all the key and decisive states known as the battleground states of northern Arizona, in the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Nevada.

After the votes are counted and confirmed in the various states, the Electoral College will meet on December 17 to officially cast their ballots and send the results to Congress. The candidate who gets 270 electoral votes or more becomes the president.

These votes will be officially collected by Congress on January 6, and the new US president will be sworn in on January 20, 2025.
