PNN – President-elect Donald Trump, who is scheduled to take the oath of office for the second time as the 47th president of the country on January 20, 2025, is eager to make his inauguration a global event.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, US President-elect Donald Trump has personally invited some foreign leaders, including heads of countries that have had disputes with the United States of America in the recent past, to attend his inauguration ceremony.
According to CNN and the Associated Press, Trump has now asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his swearing-in ceremony.
Trump’s team has confirmed that it is an unprecedented offer to the leader of one of America’s main geopolitical rivals.
Carolyn Leavitt, Trump’s spokeswoman, said in an interview with Fox News: This is an example of Trump’s open approach with the leaders of countries that are not only our allies, but also our enemies and competitors.
CNN, citing two knowledgeable sources, announced that a delegation of senior Chinese officials is expected to participate in this ceremony instead of the president of this country.
CNN also quoted informed officials as saying that the vice president of El Salvador, Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, and Javier Maile, the president of Argentina, have also been invited to the ceremony.
Invitations to attend Trump’s inauguration in Washington have so far been mostly informal, sometimes mentioned in passing during phone conversations about other matters, according to a source familiar with the matter.
According to the person, some of the invitations came through indirect channels, rather than direct invitations from one leader to another.
Trump also prepared written invitations and asked his team to send them to foreign leaders, a source familiar with the matter said.
Trump’s transition team has not responded to questions about what other leaders it has invited. The US president-elect suggested he might invite other foreign leaders, people who might be “a bit dangerous”.
Experts also told The Associated Press that Chinese President Xi Jinping would likely find it too risky to accept the invitation, and that Trump’s gesture may have little effect on the competitive relationship between the United States and China.
In 2020, after losing the election and Biden’s victory, Trump had refused to hold this ceremonial meeting in the White House and participate in Biden’s inauguration due to protesting the election result. The president-elect of the United States is scheduled to take the oath of office on January 20, 2025 as the 47th president of the country and for the second time.
Trump inflicted a heavy defeat on the Democrats by winning all the key and decisive states known as the battleground states of northern Arizona, in the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Nevada.
After the votes are counted and confirmed in the various states, the Electoral College will meet on December 17 to officially cast their ballots and send the results to Congress. The candidate who gets 270 electoral votes or more becomes the president. These votes will be officially collected by Congress on January 6, and the new US president will be sworn in on January 20, 2025.
