According to reports, a meeting between US and Russian delegations on ending the war in Ukraine was held behind closed doors on Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

It was on September 15, 2020, that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed the so-called “Abraham” agreements with Israel to normalize relations in the presence of Trump.

A short time later, the two countries of Morocco and Sudan joined this group, and even some other Arab and African states adopted a policy of adjusting their previous positions with Tel Aviv.

The aforementioned agreement, signed by the UAE, established formal diplomatic relations between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv and laid the foundation for the UAE’s extensive commercial, security and cultural ties with Israel.

An agreement to normalize Israel’s relations with Bahrain was also signed on the same day. Sudan, which had been under pressure from the United States, also signed a similar agreement with Israel on January 6, 2021, receiving a loan worth $1.5 billion from Washington and being removed from the list of terrorist countries.

Morocco also officially announced the normalization of its relations with Israel on December 10, 2020, after which the United States recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.
