PNN – Following the scandal caused by the leak of classified US security information that shocked the country’s allies, a Western media outlet revealed that US President Donald Trump mistakenly made a phone call to former National Security Advisor Herbert McMaster and criticized him after realizing the mistake.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Independent newspaper wrote in a report that Trump was supposed to speak to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster by phone, but his call was connected to his former national security adviser, Herbert McMaster.
As soon as the US President realized that the person on the phone was not the governor of Carolina, he criticized Herbert McMaster during the short call.
Less than a month ago, six weeks after the second Trump administration took office, and just a few days before the Signal Gate scandal (the scandal of the leak of a group chat of White House security officials about the attack on Yemen), retired US Army General Herbert McMaster received an unexpected call from Trump’s personal cell phone.
Four sources familiar with the White House scandal told CBS News that the call was from the White House and that the voice on the other end of the line told McMaster to wait to speak to the president.

The call was particularly strange because McMaster was fired in March 2018 after just 13 months.
What was even stranger was that just a few days earlier, on March 2, 2025, Trump had harshly criticized McMaster on social media, calling him “weak and a loser.”
Trump’s remarks came in response to McMaster’s expression of skepticism on the “60 Minutes” program regarding Trump’s approach to negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
CBS News quoted two officials who were not authorized to discuss the president’s private conversations as saying: When Trump came on the line, he said, ‘Henry…’ before starting his conversations.
McMaster immediately recognized the president’s voice, but quickly realized that he was not the recipient of the call.
The former US National Security Advisor immediately introduced himself and said: “Mr. President, I am Herbert McMaster.”
It is not yet clear which member of Trump’s team made the mistaken phone call, but a source familiar with the matter told CBS that it was one of Trump’s advisers who works with him.
The White House declined to comment on Trump’s personal phone calls or confirm whether such a conversation took place.
