Trump threatens Minneapolis mayor after massive protests

Minneapolis

PNN – The US President threatened the mayor of Minneapolis following protests in the state of Minnesota over the killing of two protesters by immigration officers over his strict immigration policies.

Donald Trump told the mayor of Minneapolis on Wednesday local time that if you don’t enforce federal immigration law, you’re “playing with fire.”

He once again changed his tone towards Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, warning him that he would be violating federal law by not enforcing immigration enforcement.

This came after Trump announced his plans to “de-escalate” tensions in Minnesota, saying he had “very good” phone calls with Fry and the state’s governor, Tim Walz, this week.

Trump wrote on social media: Jacob Frey said that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws. This was after a very good conversation with him. Can someone explain this? This is a very serious violation of the law and he is playing with fire.

After meeting with Trump’s border Chief Tom Homan yesterday, Frey said he had shared with him the “serious negative impacts” of the administration’s immigration enforcement operations on Minneapolis “as well as the strain it has placed on our local police officers.”

The Minneapolis mayor added: I have also made it clear that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws, and we remain focused on keeping our residents and our streets safe. City leaders will continue to engage with Homan and his team.
