Mamdani’s representatives have not yet commented on Trump’s new remarks regarding the meeting with the new New York mayor.

Trump told reporters on Sunday night local time, upon returning to Washington after the weekend, “I think the mayor of New York would like to meet with us. We will reach an agreement.”

“We want things to go well for New York,” he added.
