Trump to visit Israel in the upcoming days.

“US President Donald Trump stated to Axios, “They want me to speak to the Knesset (Israeli parliament), and if they want me to, I will.” He added, “Today is a great day for Israel and for the world. My call with Bibi (Netanyahu) was great. He is very happy, and he should be. This is a significant achievement. The whole world came together to make this deal, including countries that were once enemies.”

Trump had previously mentioned that he might travel to the Middle East on Sunday, but did not specify his destination. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also extended an invitation for Trump to speak to the Knesset.

On Monday, October 6, 2025 indirect talks began in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, between Palestinian and Israeli delegations to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza and prepare for a potential prisoner exchange. Representatives from the United States, including Steve Whitaker, the US special envoy for the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, participated in the discussions.

Following the talks between Hamas and Israel in Sharm el-Sheik on Wednesday evening, local time, October 8, 2025 (16 Mohar 1404), the US President announced, “I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that all hostages (prisoners) will be released soon, and Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line as the first steps toward a strong, lasting, and permanent peace. All sides will be treated fairly.”

Trump further stated, “This is a great day for the Arab and Islamic world, Israel, all neighboring countries, and the United States of America. We also thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event possible. Good luck to the peacemakers!”

On September 29, 2025, Trump unveiled his 20-point plan for a ceasefire in Gaza at a joint press conference with Netanyahu. While the plan aims to end the war in Gaza and rebuild the region, it has faced serious criticism from various groups, including Palestinian organizations, human rights institutions, and Western analysts.

On October 3, 2025, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) responded to Trump’s ceasefire plan. They agreed to a complete cessation of hostilities, a prisoner exchange, and independent administration of Gaza. Hamas called for a review of Gaza’s future based on Palestinian national interests. This response was made after extensive consultations with Palestinian groups and regional mediators, and included conditional acceptance of some clauses of the plan alongside a request to discuss issues regarding the future of Gaza and the rights of the Palestinian people collectively.

On October 7, 2023, Israel, with support from the United States, launched a military operation against the residents of the Gaza Strip in retaliation for actions by Palestinian resistance groups, led by Hamas. This conflict has resulted in the deaths of more than 66,000 Palestinians, in addition to extensive destruction and severe famine in the region.
