PNN – Following the Japanese Prime Minister’s provocative remarks about China’s sovereignty over the Taiwan region, Trump asked Takaichi not to provoke China on the Taiwan issue.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump advised Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi not to provoke China regarding Taiwan’s sovereignty, following the diplomatic dispute between Tokyo and Beijing over the Taiwan issue.

The dispute between China and Japan, Asia’s two largest economies, began after Takaichi’s comments, in which he said Tokyo could intervene militarily in any attack on an island that China claims as part of its territory.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, President Xi Jinping stressed in a phone call with Trump on Monday that Taiwan’s return to China is an integral part of the post-war international order.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Japanese officials and a US official familiar with the call, that after Premier Xi’s call, Trump called Takaichi and advised him not to provoke Beijing on the issue of sovereignty over Taiwan.
