The website of North Carolina Radio reported that during his campaign trip to the city of Rocky Mount in North Carolina, Trump claimed that his administration had succeeded in reducing living costs and putting the U.S. economy on a path to recovery, but many local residents say they are still under severe economic pressure.

According to the report, at this campaign rally held ahead of the midterm elections, Trump criticized the administration of Joe Biden, describing the current economic problems as a legacy of that government, and stressed that his administration’s measures — including increased tariff revenues, lower prices for some medicines, and new fiscal policies — would soon have an impact on people’s lives

The American media outlet added that residents of Rocky Mount are complaining about rising housing costs, food prices, and municipal services. Daija Bryant, a 26-year-old factory worker, said that managing rent alongside daily living expenses has become extremely difficult, especially ahead of Christmas.

Local business owners have also reported a decline in people’s purchasing power. Some shop owners say that customers, instead of buying goods, are being forced to sell their own belongings.
