Trump’s defeat of Biden in the new poll.

Trump’s defeat of Biden in the new poll.
According to the results of a new Quinnipiac University poll, in a hypothetical competition with Donald Trump, Joe Biden was able to defeat the Republican front-runner by winning 50 percent of support against 44 percent.

Amid signs of a widening gender gap in support for the two front-runners in the US election, US President Joe Biden beat former President Donald Trump by six percentage points in a new poll.

A new national poll by Quinnipiac University found that in a hypothetical race, Democratic front-runner Biden would win 50 percent of registered voters, compared to 44 percent for Republican front-runner Trump.

This means a turn in favor of Biden, who defeated Trump in the same poll in December 47 to 46 by a margin of only 1 percentage point.

Biden also managed to win the support of the majority of independents in the new poll with 52%, while support for Trump was 40%.

The poll also revealed a gender gap in support for the current and former White House occupant. Fifty-eight percent of women said they supported Biden, up from 53 percent in December. Meanwhile, 53 percent of men said they supported Trump, which was unchanged from December’s 51 percent.

According to Quinnipiac University poll analyst Tim Malloy, “the gender demographics tell a story that, with the help of women, Biden was able to turn a tie with Trump into a modest advantage in just a few weeks.”

While the heat of the American presidential election is heating up with the holding of preliminary competitions, Biden is facing a handful of not-so-serious rivals in the Democratic Party; The Republican competition to determine the final candidate has turned into a competition between Trump and Nikki Haley, the former US representative to the United Nations.

Despite calls to step down in favor of Trump and strengthen his position, Haley points to polls showing her doing better against Biden than Trump.

In the Quinnipiac poll, while Biden defeated Trump in a two-way race, Haley was able to defeat the US president in another race, assuming that he was the Republican nominee and Biden was the Democratic nominee.

Quinnipiac University poll analyst Malloy believes that Haley owes this advantage to the support of independents. But at the same time, he pointed out that with the addition of third-party candidates to the hypothetical race, Haley’s score dropped.

Earlier, most Americans expressed dismay at having to choose between him and Biden again in the 2024 presidential election, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that coincided with Trump’s second win in the Republican primary.

South Carolina’s Democratic primary is scheduled to take place this weekend (Saturday or Sunday). Nevada is the next state where Republicans will compete, followed by South Carolina in late February.

The new Quinnipiac University poll was conducted between January 25 and 26 with 1,650 American voters across the United States with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.4 percent.
