Trump was attacked several times during his 2024 election campaign. The top officials of the US Secret Service were heavily criticized for the security gaps after the failed assassination of Trump in Butler, and the criticism finally led to the resignation of Kimberly Cheatle, the director of this agency.
Donald Trump Jr., the son of the US president-elect, wrote on the “X” social network: President Trump will nominate Sean Curran, the head of his personal protection team, as director of the Secret Service. Sin is a great patriot and will stop all nonsense once and for all. There is no one better than him for this post.
The suspect who attacked Trump in Butler in July of last year managed to get within 150 meters of Trump and shot him several times. In that incident, Trump suffered an ear injury and one of the people present at the gathering was killed and two others were injured. The assailant was also shot by snipers. Also in September, a gunman was arrested after an ambush near Trump’s personal golf course in Florida.
