Trump’s possible visit to Pakistan.
Reuters quoted two Pakistani television channels as saying that US President Donald Trump is planning to visit Islamabad in September. If confirmed, the trip would be the first by a US president to Pakistan since George W. Bush in 2006.
A spokesman for Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it was not aware of the trip, and the US embassy in Islamabad had no comment on the matter.
Trump will reportedly visit India after Pakistan. The news comes as US-Pakistan relations have strengthened in recent months, with Trump meeting Pakistan’s army chief at the White House.
Meanwhile, India is hosting a summit of the Quad this year, a group of countries including the US, India, Australia, and Japan that aims to counter China’s growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
