PNN – Bloomberg reported that although the situation of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was limited, it has now worsened with Trump’s statements.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was already restricted even before US President Donald Trump announced the closure of the vital shipping lane, and the situation has worsened, Bloomberg reported. Trump, who has not allowed a single ship to pass through the Strait of Hormuz more than 40 days into the war, attacked Iran’s handling of the strait, saying “anyone who pays illegal tolls will not have safe passage in international waters.”
Ship tracking data shows that since the start of the war, the number of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to single digits on most days, while under normal conditions an average of about 130 ships transited the waterway daily.
According to the report, most of the ships that have made it through have either been owned by Iran or are linked to the shadowy fleet.
For some days last week, all ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz had some sort of connection to Iran. In accordance with the procedure set by Iran, ships are required to coordinate with the Iranian armed forces and obtain permission to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
