Trump’s team is working hard to secure the Nobel Peace Prize for the President of the United States.
According to the report, members of the US government, including special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are lobbying heavily, both publicly and behind the scenes, for Trump to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Bloomberg added that the issue has been raised in private conversations between Witkoff and European officials, while Rubio is also said to be trying to convince partners to support the idea of awarding Trump the Nobel Peace Prize.
These aggressive efforts have been met with concern in Norway, where the Nobel Committee is based.
Norwegian officials are concerned about Trump’s possible reaction if the prize is not awarded to him.
According to IRNA, in August, a Norwegian business newspaper reported that US President Donald Trump had called the Norwegian Finance Minister under the pretext of discussing trade tariffs and asked to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Nobel laureates are chosen by a committee whose five members are appointed by the Norwegian parliament in accordance with the will of 19th-century Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel. The Norwegian Nobel Committee reviews hundreds of nominations each year and announces the winner in early October.
Trump has previously weighed in on the issue of choosing a pope, even jokingly saying he would like to be the next pope of the Vatican and succeed the late Pope Francis. Trump even posted a photo of himself in papal robes, prompting the election of Leo XIV as the first American pope. Now, it seems that Trump is trying to use political pressure and influence to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
