PNN – Rashid Ghannoushi, head of the Al-Nahza Movement in Tunisia, called for an end to violence and discord in Tunisia after announcing his hunger strike, emphasizing that Islam stresses unity of word.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Arabi 21, Ghannoushi, who is currently in prison, stated in a message sent after beginning his hunger strike that the strike is in support of Johar Bin Mubarak, adding that Johar is not merely an Islamist activist but a dedicated fighter for freedom and dignity, raised in a devoted and militant family.
He noted that the Tunisian people highly value freedom and added that today’s disputes are a legacy of conflicts from the 1970s and 1980s, and it is time for these disputes to end.

The imprisoned leader of Al-Nahza stressed that Tunisia is truly at risk and that this message is directed to Islamic circles both inside and outside the country, indicating that Tunisian Islamists have moved beyond ideological conflicts, while Islam emphasizes unity of word.
Ghannoushi further stated that they have no problem with a free individual, and that the main issue in Tunisia, the Arab world, and globally is the lack of freedom and absence of democracy.
On Thursday, the defense team of Johar Bin Mubarak, a constitutional law professor and political activist, issued an urgent appeal for help after his health severely deteriorated due to a seven-day hunger strike, emphasizing that he is on the verge of death.
Johar Bin Mubarak, who has been in detention since February 2023, is one of Tunisia’s most prominent political and academic figures and a staunch critic of the July 25, 2021, process.
