Türkiye: Hunger should not be used as a weapon against Palestinians in Gaza

PNN – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday evening: Using hunger as a weapon, a means of punishment, or a bargaining chip against the Palestinian people in Gaza is unacceptable.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Turkish Anadolu Agency, Fidan made these remarks on Thursday at a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barthes, at the Turkish Foreign Ministry headquarters in Ankara.

Referring to the continuing humanitarian situation in Gaza, Fidan added: Humanitarian aid has been stopped entering Gaza for more than 50 days, and this situation cannot continue.

In this regard, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Watch warned of the dire economic and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and announced: By preventing financial aid to the region, Israel has effectively adopted a targeted policy to destroy the residents of Gaza.

The statement from the organization states: Since the beginning of the crime of genocide in Gaza, the Israeli regime has prevented the entry of any amount and type of cash into the region. This financial blockade has led to a severe crisis in people’s livelihoods, forcing them to turn to the black market to obtain cash at high fees; a situation that is also eroding what remains of citizens’ financial resources.

The Observatory emphasized: This economic pressure is not just an attack on Gaza’s financial structure, but is a central tool in Israel’s policies to starve and gradually destroy the population.

This human rights organization called for effective international pressure to end the financial blockade and allow unconditional entry of cash into Gaza, stating: The deliberate imposition of such inhumane conditions is a clear example of genocide.
