Türkiye-Israel agreement on military activity in Syria exposed.
The Israel Hayom newspaper reported in an article published on its website Wednesday evening that the two sides have reached an agreement on the absence of military confrontation between the Israeli and Turkish armies, which are simultaneously operating in northern Syria.
According to the Hebrew-language media outlet, Israel and Turkey have reached an agreement in principle regarding their military activities deep inside Syrian territory.
An official Israeli source told Israel Hayom that the agreement in principle was reached after weeks of negotiations held in the capital of Azerbaijan, a common ally of Israel and Turkey.
The two sides reached an agreement on several specific principles, the aim of which is to prevent tensions and clashes between the Israeli and Turkish military forces, both of which are operating in northern Syria.
Regarding southern Syria, Israel continues to insist on its position that the area must be demilitarized.
The report continues, citing Western media reports, that Israel and Turkey have established a direct line of communication in their negotiations, which were brokered by Azerbaijan, in order to coordinate measures to prevent tensions between them in Syria.
A source present at the negotiations also revealed that Israel has no objection in principle to the deployment of Turkish forces in Syria, and has not even expressed any objection to the activities of armored and infantry forces, but it has conditioned its agreement on the fact that Turkey does not have the right to deploy air defense systems and radars capable of detecting Israeli air movements in Syrian airspace.
