Türkiye: Israel’s attack on the “Samoud Flotilla” is a terrorist act and a gross violation of international law.
The statement continued by the foreign ministry, which said that the Israeli attack on the ships endangered the “lives of innocent civilians” and was a clear violation of international law and human rights.
The Turkish foreign ministry announced that it would take “necessary measures” to immediately follow up on the situation of Turkish and other nationals detained during the seizure of the ships, adding that Ankara would use “legal channels” to prosecute the perpetrators of the incident and work for the prompt release of its citizens.
Ankara also called on the United Nations and all international organizations to take immediate action, lift the blockade of Gaza, and ensure the safe passage of humanitarian aid and freedom of navigation in the region; the foreign ministry stressed that such attacks could jeopardize efforts to establish a ceasefire and deliver aid.
The statement said the move was clear evidence that the “fascist and militaristic policies” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has imposed a severe siege on Gaza and exposed it to famine, are not limited to Palestinians but embrace anyone who resists Israeli oppression.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the attack would not harm efforts to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The statement continued by saying that since the beginning of the “Resistance Flotilla” voyage, Turkey has been actively participating in close coordination with other countries whose nationals are on board.
Anadolu wrote that the “Resistance Flotilla to Break the Siege of Gaza” had announced on its X social media account that it had been attacked by around 10 Israeli vessels. The Resistance Flotilla requested emergency assistance after the Israeli military stopped some of its ships in international waters, calling the escalation a “war crime.”
The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza has also confirmed the entry of the Israeli occupation navy into some of the ships of this flotilla, which totals about fifty ships.
