PNN – Turkey is being equipped with 40 US-made F-16 fighter jets, which is said to be in line with Washington’s goals in the region, and Greece is also closely monitoring Ankara.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the US Defense Security Cooperation Organization attached to the Pentagon has provided detailed information on the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey on Sunday.
According to “Al-Bawaba” website, 40 F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits worth 23 billion dollars are to be exported to Turkey. The Turkish Air Force will also upgrade its existing 79 F-16 fighters with these kits.
Meanwhile, Greece has recently ordered 24 French-made Rafale fighters, 6 new and 18 second-hand ones, as well as three French frigates.
Not long ago, “Kriakas Mitsotakis”, the leader of the “New Democracy” party of Greece and the former prime minister of this country, said that due to Turkey’s movements, Greece should strengthen the power of its armed forces.

“Greece has an obligation to strengthen its armed forces because we have Turkey as our biggest and most unpredictable geopolitical neighbor,” Mitsotakis said.
The announcement emphasized that the sale is aimed at increasing the capabilities of the Turkish Air Force and potentially strengthening cooperation with NATO in close alignment with US foreign policy goals.
This development is part of Türkiye’s strategy to meet its needs. This country is waiting for the completion of the indigenous fighter plane project.
The notice creates a 15-day period for Congress to raise any objections to the sale. If there is no objection during this period, the sale will continue. Both the Senate and House Foreign Relations Committees reportedly support the sale.
The F-16 fighter is known as the fourth and a half generation and has an advanced electronically scanned array radar.
The United States has agreed to sell fifth generation F-35 fighter jets to Greece, and we have to wait and see which country will have air superiority.
