Türkiye’s big challenge in Syria.
The Israeli regime’s attacks on sensitive centers in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and the conspiracy that took place in Sweida once again showed the deep and widespread dimensions of insecurity and instability in this country.
Meanwhile, Turkish government officials have once again realized the fact that, contrary to media and propaganda claims, not everything has gone in Ankara’s favor, and the organization that emerged from the heart of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or the transitional government, is in a weak position.
Now it can be seen that the Erdogan government is in a situation where it neither wants to take a firm stand against the Israeli regime nor can it ignore the fate of Jolani and his comrades.
Most Ankara newspapers, in their front-page photos and headlines, highlighted the importance of the events in Syria for Turkish officials. Given that most Turkish newspapers are now controlled by groups affiliated with the ruling party, the inclusion of Erdogan’s photo alongside Golani or Ahmed al-Sharaa and the repeated declaration of the Turkish president’s continued support for Syria became a major concern.
A review of Ankara newspapers shows that the political developments in Syria have effectively become a vital and strategic priority for the Erdogan government.
The newspaper, which is close to the line of thought of Abdullah Gul and Davutoglu, rightly points out that Syria is still like a powder keg and that the slightest spark or new event can destabilize the country, regardless of whether the situation is in Erdogan’s favor or not.
