Two Israeli soldiers arrested on charges of leaking information to Iran.
According to Al Arabiya, the Israeli General Security Service, known as Shin Bet, and the Israeli police announced the arrest of two soldiers for espionage and intelligence activities for Iran.
According to the Jerusalem Post, one of the suspects passed on confidential information he obtained during his military service in the Air Defense Force to an operator.
The Shin Bet and the Israeli police announced that during a joint operation in January 2025, they arrested two Israeli reserve soldiers from the Krayot area, Yuri Ilyaspov and Georgi Andreev, on charges of involvement in security cases.
Investigations also revealed that Ilyaspov had been in contact with an Iranian agent for several months and had performed some security tasks under the direction of this agent in exchange for financial payments.
Following a more serious investigation into the matter, the Israeli security services have discovered that Ilyaspov also recruited his friend Andreev and promised him a financial reward for participating in espionage operations.
Reports also indicate that Ilyaspov received at least $2,500 for his actions.
Andreev also agreed to cooperate with him, despite realizing that the operator in question was hostile to the Israeli regime.
It is also said that the suspects were aware of the nature of their actions and, after seeing media reports of the arrest of several Israelis on espionage charges, realized that they were working for an Iranian agent.
The investigation has shown a growing trend of targeting the Israeli community through social media to recruit forces by Iranian agents.
It is worth noting that the Israeli Attorney General announced a criminal case against the two suspects on Monday and it is expected that they will be indicted in the coming days.
