The Southern Transitional Council of Yemen also announced that this gathering takes place at a sensitive and important stage to declare support for the head of this council (Aidarous al-Zubaidi).
This is while Saudi Arabia had previously demanded that UAE mercenaries withdraw from Hadramaut and Al Mahrah provinces, which are two strategic provinces of Yemen; a request that was met with opposition from these mercenaries. Saudi Arabia also targeted the positions of Transitional Council elements in Hadramaut by air.
In mid-December, UAE mercenaries announced the start of their military operations in Abyan province in southern Yemen. These elements also took control of parts of Shabwa province at the beginning of this month. They have advanced in Hadramaut province near Saudi Arabia and Al Mahrah province near Oman and taken control of them.
